Updated : May 13, 2026

Renowned writer and director Janardhana Maharshi is setting a historic milestone in Indian cinema. He is taking a massive step by launching a dedicated and full-fledged Sanskrit Film Industry.

While the Indian cinema landscape is largely defined by Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films, this new initiative stands out. It aims to bring the foundational language of Sanskrit to the mainstream silver screen in a big way.

Through the newly established Bharathiya Sanskrit Film Federation, the goal is to present the rich linguistic beauty of Sanskrit to a global audience. A primary objective of this federation is to break the long-standing myth that Sanskrit is solely reserved for mythological epics and spiritual chants.

Janardhana Maharshi clarified that this new venture will operate much like the regular regional film industries. The focus will be on producing engaging commercial films with sensible, contemporary storylines that connect with today's audience.

The official registration of the federation is complete, and formal operations will begin on May 16th. Prominent industry giants, including Kannada producer Rockline Venkatesh, along with figures from the Tamil and Hindi fraternities, are joining as key partners to support this charity-driven trust.

The federation will provide comprehensive support to filmmakers for worldwide promotions and film festival submissions. Janardhana Maharshi has set an ambitious target to make twelve films, with three projects already prepared to go on floors, promising a vibrant new chapter for Indian cinema.
