The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce held its general body meeting today to discuss the percentage versus rental revenue models. This meeting was actually scheduled six months ago, but it took place under extremely tense conditions due to a heated back-and-forth over the past few days.

The friction began on May 12th when exhibitors demanded the immediate implementation of a percentage system. On May 13th, producers countered this, arguing that the massive Rs. 350 crore upcoming film Peddi was being unfairly targeted. Exhibitors and theatre owners firmly reiterated their demand for the percentage model on May 14th. During this intense build-up, a severe war of words took place between producer Naga Vamsi and exhibitor Asian Suniel, with Suniel Narang verbally targeting Naga Vamsi and calling him a "duplicate wig fellow."

This tension finally exploded at today's general body meeting. Reports suggest that the arguments resulted in an actual physical altercation. While social media has been quick to connect this clash with Naga Vamsi due to the recent verbal war, it remains unconfirmed who was actually involved in the fight at the meeting.

To calm the ongoing storm, Dil Raju and C. Kalyan addressed the press. They stated that producers are actually in favor of the percentage system and announced that a 15-18 member committee is being formed to grade theatres into A, B, and C centers. Expecting a resolution within two to three months, they reassured the trade that Peddi will have a smooth release and continue with the rental system as its producer requested.
