Updated : Apr 12, 2017

Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani passed away on March 6, 2016. It was initially reported that the popular actor died of ill health. However, Kalabhavan's  brother Ramakrishnan filed a case at the Kerala High Court claiming foul play and that he could have been murdered.

Ramakrishnan requested the Kerala High Court to order a CBI investigation on his brother's death in his plea. Following the request, the Court has now ordered the CBI to investigate within a month's time with all the evidence available.

In a statement filed before the court, the government had ruled out the possibility of murder. It added that the chances of his consuming poisonous insecticides accidentally was almost zero. It was revealed from the postmortem findings that Mani had severe cirrhosis of liver, jaundice, kidney dysfunction, and severe Type 2 diabetics mellitus.

The statement said the police had also examined the possibilities of Mani committing suicide against the backdrop of his chronic alcoholic tendencies.
