Several Telugu actors tested their luck as producers. While very few celebrities succeeded in making commercial hits, many have failed to deliver hits. Here is the list of actors who failed as producers:

1. Kanta Rao:

Kanta Rao who was fondly called as Kathi Kantha Rao by his admirers had produced five films in total. While his maiden production venture Saptaswaralu was a big hit, his next film Gandara Gandadu was an above average grosser. Later Kanta Rao produced three films Premajeevulu (1971), Gundelu Teesina Monagaadu (1974) and Swaati Chinukulu (1989) which all were debacles at box office and threw him to debts.

2. Krishna:

Superstar Krishna was one of the top stars in his era. He produced several super hit films under his production banner Padmalaya Studios such as Devudu Chesina Manushulu, Alluri Seetharama Raju, Eenadu, Himmatwala, Simhasanam etc. Nonetheless, Krishna delivered many flops as producer such as Kurukshetram, Marana Shasanam, Pachcha Toranam etc. Overall, Krishna was a failure as a producer. 

3. Mohan Babu:

Mohan Babu is a versatile actor who can play any given role. He produced nearly 41 films under Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures. While the hit count is very less, maximum number of films came from the banner were box office duds. Alludugaru, Assembly Rowdy, Major Chandrakanth and Pedarayudu were few of the blockbusters films made under Sree Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures.

4. Sudhakar: 

Actor Sudhakar turned producer with megastar Chiranjeevi's prestigious 100th film Yamudiki Mogudu which was a run away hit. Later Sudhakar made three flop movies- Tatayya Pelli Manavadi Shobhanam, Parugo Parugu and Kishkindakanda. The then ace comedian run into debts with these films and distanced himself from industry for long time.

5. Bandla Ganesh:

Bandla Ganesh was a small time artist. But, he stunned one and all by donning producer avatar with Anjaneyulu. He made his second film Teen Maar with Power Star Pawan Kalyan. Ganesh tasted first success as producer with Gabbar Singh which was a huge blockbuster. Later, Ganesh delivered nearly four flops. His last movie as producer i.e. Temper with Jr NTR was an above average grosser. Overall, Ganesh failed as a producer.

6. Pawan Kalyan: 

Do you know Power Star Pawan Kalyan was co-producer for his elder brother Mega Star Chiranjeevi's Mugguru Monagallu which was an epic disaster. After nearly 22 years, he floated own production house called Pawan Kalyan Creative Works to produce Sardaar Gabbar. The film directed by Bobby was a debacle at BO. So, the two films produced by Pawan Kalyan so far were flops. He has now tied up with his director-friend Trivikram Srinivas to produce Nithin's new film with director Krishna Chaitanya.

7. Mahesh Babu:

Mahesh Babu hasn't directly invested or produced any film so far, instead he took the co-producer tag. As per his deal with producers, he will get shares in film profits, instead of remuneration. While his maiden production venture Srimanthudu was a blockbuster, his second film as producer- Brahmotsavam was a dud. Overall, Mahesh Babu gets average marks as a producer.

8. Nani:

Nani co-produced Sundeep Kishan starrer D For Dopidi which was rejected by audiences. Later, Nani never tried to put his hands in production.
