Foxtail Millet Khichdi

 

While looking a healthy option for khichdi – we came across this foxtail millet and then we tried out the combination of foxtail Millet(Korralu) with green gram or moong dal and trust us it tasty yummy. Check the recipe in detail below and get started​.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

Foxtail Millet (Korralu) - 1 cup

Moong Dal (Pesara Pappu) - 1/2 cup

Ghee - 3 spoons

Pepper (Miryalu) - 4 or 5

Ginger (Allum) - 1 spoon grated

Jeera (Jilakarra) - 1 spoon

Green Chilli - 1

Cashew Nut (Jidipappu) - a few

Salt - to taste

 

Method :

Roast cashew nuts in ghee and keep it aside.

Roast moong dal in a pan and keep it aside.

Take cooker add ghee, jeera, pepper balls, ginger, chilli and saute wait till jeera splutters. Later add 3 cups of water (for 1 cup foxtail millet + ½ cup moong dal) if you need the khichidi to me normal. Else if you like the khichidi to be a little mashy add 4 cups of water.

Add salt while the water boils. Once the water boils add the foxtail millets and roasted moong dal and close the cooker.

Wait for 3 whistles and your khichidi is ready to be served.

Finally garnish with cashew nuts and coriander.
