Veteran Actor GV Narayana Rao Passes Away

The Telugu film industry is mourning the demise of veteran actor and producer G.V. Narayana Rao, who passed away at the age of 73. He had been suffering from health-related issues for some time and breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad. His demise has left colleagues, friends and fans deeply saddened.

G.V. Narayana Rao made his silver-screen debut in 1976 with Antuleni Katha, directed by legendary filmmaker K. Balachander. He earned recognition with the popular song “Thaalikattu Shubhavela” and went on to win the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance.

He subsequently appeared in more than 100 films, taking on lead roles as well as character parts in movies such as Oka Oori Katha and Mutyala Pallaki. His performances across different phases of Telugu cinema established him as a respected actor with a long and varied career.

Narayana Rao later ventured into film production and backed successful films featuring Megastar Chiranjeevi, including Yamudiki Mogudu and Devantakudu. He also frequently spoke about his close friendship with Superstar Rajinikanth, dating back to their days at the Madras Film Institute, and his affectionate association with Chiranjeevi.

With a career spanning decades across acting and production, G.V. Narayana Rao made a memorable contribution to Telugu cinema. His passing marks the loss of a veteran who witnessed and contributed to several important phases of the industry.
