Rashmika's Mysaa underwater sequence becomes Talk of Industry

Jul 9, 2026 3:00PM

Rashmika Mandanna is pushing herself physically for her upcoming pan-India action thriller Mysaa. The actress is currently filming a demanding underwater action sequence, and her commitment to performing the stunt herself has become a major talking point within the industry.

According to the makers, Rashmika spent nearly 20 hours underwater over two days to complete the high-intensity sequence. Instead of opting for an action double, she reportedly performed the entire fight on her own after undergoing extensive preparation for the challenging shoot.

Filming action scenes underwater is considered one of the most technically demanding aspects of filmmaking, requiring precise coordination, breath control and stamina. The production team says Rashmika's dedication throughout the schedule impressed not only the film's crew but also the specialised underwater technicians and the cinematography team, who witnessed the sequence firsthand.

Mysaa is directed by Rawindra Pulle and produced by Ajay and Anil Sayyapureddy as a pan-India action entertainer. While the makers have been highlighting the film's large-scale action set pieces, this underwater sequence is expected to be one of its major attractions.

With Mysaa, Rashmika appears to be exploring a more action-oriented role than ever before. If the effort behind the sequence translates effectively on screen, the film could showcase a new side of the actress and add another ambitious female-led action film to Indian cinema.
