With Rao Bahadur gearing up for its theatrical release, the makers held a pre-release press meet to clear one major misconception surrounding the film. Ever since the teaser and promotional material were released, many assumed the Satyadev starrer to be a horror or thriller. However, the team has now made it clear that Rao Bahadur is a psychological drama that offers a completely new cinematic experience.
Director Venkatesh Maha, producers Anurag, Sharath Chandra and Chinta Gopal Reddy, along with lead actor Satyadev, interacted with the media and explained what audiences can expect. Maha said the film redefines commercial Telugu cinema and requested viewers to walk into theatres with an open mind instead of expecting a conventional commercial entertainer or a genre-specific narrative. He described the film as a visual spectacle that unfolds inside the mind of its protagonist.
The producers echoed the same sentiment, stressing that the film is neither a horror film nor a thriller. Chinta Gopal Reddy remarked that if audiences spend a few minutes understanding why they should watch Rao Bahadur, they would willingly immerse themselves in its unique world and character-driven storytelling. They also clarified that the film is an original work and not inspired by or adapted from any existing material.
Satyadev said the team felt it was important to explain the film's genre before release so that audiences come with the right expectations. He described Rao Bahadur as an intense character drama that deeply explores the protagonist's behaviour, imagination and psyche. Expressing complete confidence in the film, the actor said its impact would stay with viewers for hours after they leave the theatre and continue to linger in their minds.
Presented by Mahesh Babu, who also lent his voice to the recently released teaser, Rao Bahadur has already received glowing praise from both Mahesh and director Sukumar, with the latter calling it a never-before-seen experience in Telugu cinema. Riding on strong pre-release buzz, the psychological drama is all set to hit theatres worldwide on July 3.
