Ram starts RAPO23 shoot with Pooja Ceremony

Jun 29, 2026 11:54AM

The cameras have officially started rolling for RAPO23, the ambitious new project that marks a significant milestone in Ram Pothineni's career. After creating buzz with its announcement as his directorial debut, the film was formally launched with a traditional pooja ceremony before beginning regular production.

The launch event was attended by the film's core team, with producer Krishna Pothineni handing over the script to Ram. P. Murali Mohan switched on the camera, while P.V. Ravi Kishore gave the ceremonial clap for the muhurtham shot. Adding a symbolic touch to the occasion, Ram himself directed the first shot, officially kicking off the shoot.

Unlike his previous ventures, RAPO23 sees Ram taking on multiple responsibilities. Besides playing the lead role, he has also conceived the story and is directing the film. The project is said to be a psychological action thriller set in a dark neo-noir world, a genre rarely explored in mainstream Telugu cinema. The first-look poster had already hinted at a stylish and intense makeover for the actor, raising expectations among fans.

The regular shoot commenced immediately after the launch ceremony, with Ram and several cast members joining the production. While the complete cast is yet to be announced, the makers have confirmed that a top-tier ensemble has been brought on board for key roles. Cinematographer Thirru is handling the visuals, adding further intrigue to the project.

Billed as the biggest-budget film of Ram Pothineni's career, RAPO23 is shaping up to be one of his most ambitious ventures. With production now underway, the makers are expected to reveal more details about the cast and other key aspects of the film in the coming weeks.
