Superstar Rajinikanth is not slowing down. Even as anticipation continues to build around Jailer 2, fresh industry developments suggest that his next project is already ready to roll. The much-talked-about film, to be produced by Kamal Haasan, is said to begin shooting from tomorrow with a formal pooja ceremony.
Interestingly, this project has seen a major directorial change. Earlier, Sundar C started the project but director backed out. Then strong buzz indicated that Don fame Cibi Chakravarthy would helm Rajinikanth. However, things appear to have changed behind the scenes, and now Ashwath Marimuthu has reportedly locked the opportunity to direct the Superstar.
The collaboration itself has become the biggest talking point. Rajinikanth leading a film backed by Kamal Haasan is a combination fans have imagined for decades, and bringing a younger filmmaker like Ashwath into the mix has only increased curiosity.
Industry chatter further suggests that the makers are planning a tight production schedule. The film is expected to continue shooting almost non-stop with only a single 20-day break built into the schedule, indicating that the team is aiming to complete the project at a rapid pace.
If all goes according to plan, the makers are said to be targeting the lucrative Pongal festival window for release. As of now, an official announcement regarding title and release date is awaited.
