The release date shuffle in Tollywood has created a major headache for the makers of Akhil Akkineni’s upcoming film, Lenin. Director Buchi Babu Sana recently confirmed that Ram Charan’s highly anticipated period sports drama, Peddi, is officially locked for a theatrical release on June 25, 2026. While this is an exciting update for the audience, it leaves the Lenin team in a difficult situation.
Originally, Lenin was scheduled to hit theaters on May 1. However, when the makers of Peddi previously announced an April 30 release, the Lenin team stepped back to avoid a clash. Out of goodwill, they voluntarily postponed Lenin to June 26. Unfortunately, production delays for Peddi resulted in Buchi Babu locking June 25 as the new date. Lenin now finds itself back in the line of fire.
Adding to the complications, reports indicate that Nagarjuna Akkineni recently watched the rushes of Lenin and has asked for critical re-shoots. Nagarjuna is personally overseeing the output to ensure the film is absolutely perfect.
He is determined to make this project a definitive box office winner for Akhil, who desperately needs a massive comeback following the disaster of his previous outing, Agent. With unexpected reshoots required and a massive theatrical clash looming, the Lenin makers are truly caught in the doldrums.
