Analysis:
Do you seriously remember what was the last patriotic film watched on big screen? You may not hastily remember the film’s name, because it’s been long time since a nationalistic film hit the screens. Then, the big question is will Naa Peru Surya please patriotism in every Indian? Actually, the film is not exactly about patriotism, but it completely revolves around protagonist who admires India than anything else. His life ambition is to die at Indian border. And another big facet in his character is he is arrogant. He will blindly follow his mind and won’t bend for anything. He won’t even damn care his senior officials which causes him to lose his job temporarily. In fact, if he can’t get his ‘no objection letter’ signed by a psychiatrist, he will lose his job permanently. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun narrates his love story to Arjun, as part of the counseling. Movie leads to interval with Allu Arjun accepting a challenge from Arjun. Until here, the film goes on dull note with not many wow moments. Furthermore, the love track between the lead pair is also not romantic or enticing. The later part shows, how Allu Arjun manager tries hard to manage his anger to get his dream fulfilled. But, in the process, he finds many problems within the society. He has only two options- he needs to change his character or fight against many anti-social elements. Relatively, second half is far better because of strong writing. SaiKumar and family episodes will make everyone emotional. The pre-climax and climax episodes too are intriguing.
Artists Performances:
Allu Arjun gave his career best performance. He just lived in the character of army jawaan who is arrogant and is a true patriot. There are so many sequences in the film which he carried on his shoulders. He must be appreciated for accepting the film to end on emotional note. He aptly exhibited the best quality in Surya, a patriot, and a bad quality in Surya, an arrogant person. Ane Emmanuel is limited for songs, though she oozed some oomph in songs. Arjun is one of the biggest assets of the film. He was too good in scenes with Allu Arjun. Sarathkumar portrayed his role convincingly. Rao Ramesh was perfect and Boman Irani played his role efficiently. Nadhiya was exceptional in the scene of sharing her feelings with Bunny when he comes back to home after ages. Vennela Kishore and Posani were funny. Other artists were cool.
Technical Aspect:
Director Vakkantham Vamsi penned the story based on the character of protagonist who is arrogant but is a patriot. Although he failed as director to deal the subject, he succeeded as a writer in penning some thought-provoking dialogues and scenes. A senior or matured director would have better dealt the subject. Vishal-Shekhar duo has provided wonderful music. Each song has its own importance and their BGM work is also impressive. Cinematography by Rajesh Ravi and Sushil Choudhary is another big asset. Editor Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao should have removed few boring scenes in both halves. Production values of Ramalakshmi Cine Creations are top notch.
Verdict:
Naa Peru Surya is not a bad film, but commercial viabilities are low. The subject may not lure mass audience.
TeluguOne Perspective:
Not So Engaging Surya!
