Mythri to push UBS release for Toxic Date with Thaman BGM?

Mar 04, 2026

Pawan Kalyan starrer Ustaad Bhagat Singh is gearing up for huge release on 26th March and with Toxic out of the picture, it might prepone to 19th March, too. The new movie by producers Mythri Movie Makers has fuelled these gossips further, almost confirming it. While acknowledging the blockbuster response to the released songs, the production house stated that Devi Sri Prasad will no longer be handling the background score.

According to their official note, "Due to our delay in finalizing & sending reels for background score to DSP, we are unable to match his timeline that he dedicated to this film." Consequently, Thaman has been brought on board to handle the score under "mutual consent."

While the producers emphasize that this decision was taken "in the best interest of the film," this development feels remarkably familiar. Well, Devi Sri Prasad is not known highly for his BGM but he does deliver on-time. Whereas S Thaman is known for quick turnup and solid score. Looks like this change confirms preponement.

On the other hand, last year, Mythri Movie Makers navigated an identical situation with the massive blockbuster Pushpa 2: The Rule and Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, where DSP was similarly replaced. In Pushpa 2 case, Sam CS and Ajaneesh Lokanath, Thaman worked on first half but DSP BG was used for second hour. Only Sam CS work was used.

In December, they replaced DSP with GV Prakash Kumar, for GBU to finish film on-time and bring it to Pongal. But it had to be pushed to April due to Vidaamuyarchi and Lyca Productions intervention. This "hat-trick" of replacements within the same banner raises uncomfortable questions.

It is difficult to believe that a top production house would fail to manage reel deadlines for three consecutive major projects. This pattern suggests the issue might be less about "timelines" and more about clashing egos or strained relations between the producers and the composer.

Looks like Sukumar preferring Devi Sri Prasad and even Harish Shankar looking to repeat Gabbar Singh trio, seems to have forced them rather unwillingly to continue with the composer. When the same excuse is used three times in a row, the industry is left wondering if "scheduling conflicts" are merely a convenient cover for a deeper fallout. Only Devi Sri Prasad and Mythri Movie Makers can confirm about the issues brewing between them.
