After a long wait of thirteen years, Suriya has made a grand comeback with his latest release, Karuppu. The movie has taken the box office by storm, selling over 700,000 tickets on its first day. This is a new peak record for the actor, bringing him a much-needed massive hit after facing a few disappointments in recent years.

The first-day collections in Tamil Nadu are looking very strong at around Rs. 19 crores gross. Audiences are truly enjoying the film, and the highly positive word of mouth promises a solid opening weekend. Trade experts believe this momentum will easily continue, predicting a distributor share between Rs. 50 and 60 crores.

With the advantage of the holiday season, the movie is expected to perform even better if Monday onwards family audiences give it the required push. The final gross in Tamil Nadu alone is estimated to cross the Rs. 125 crore mark, if things go as per the first day talk in long run. 

This massive success marks a huge moment for Suriya. He has not seen such big box office numbers since Singam 2 in 2013, as all his movies after that failed to hit the Rs. 100 crore gross mark worldwide too. Karuppu has finally broken that long streak, proving that he is back in a big way.
