KJQ becomes a huge talking point

Aug 6, 2026 4:52PM

King Jackie Queen (KJQ) is heading to theatres tomorrow, but the period crime drama carries far more emotional weight than a regular release. Starring Dheekshith Shetty, Shashi Odela and Yukti Thareja, the film marks the final directorial work of filmmaker Kiran Kumar (KK), who passed away unexpectedly during production.

Set against the backdrop of the 1990s, KJQ was left incomplete after KK's demise. Instead of shelving the project, producer Sudhakar Cherukuri took the responsibility of completing the film under the SLV Cinemas banner. The team worked towards preserving the director's vision, making sure the film reached audiences the way he had originally imagined it.

The release has become a special moment for the Telugu film industry, as it celebrates the legacy of a filmmaker whose final dream has now made it to the big screen. Completing a film after losing its director is a rare challenge, and the makers have positioned KJQ as a heartfelt tribute to KK's passion and dedication.

Beyond its emotional significance, King Jackie Queen promises an intense period crime drama revolving around power, ambition and survival. With the cast and crew treating the project as a tribute rather than just another production, the film arrives with both cinematic expectations and an emotional connection that makes tomorrow's release particularly memorable.
