DSP reconnects with his folk roots for Yellamma

May 26, 2026 4:41PM

Music composer Devi Sri Prasad recently took a step away from the recording studios to visit his native village, Vedurupaka. In a recent video shared on his social media, he documented his trip back home, capturing the lively atmosphere of the local Jathara festival.

The footage shows a different side of the usually high-energy musician. He is seen spending time at his family home and blending in with the locals. The video focuses heavily on the traditional aspects of the festival, highlighting the local percussionists, vibrant costumes, and the raw energy of the folk performances.

Through the video, he offered a personal tribute to his late father for filling his heart with art, while also expressing his respect for folk artists around the world who keep these traditions alive. This visit is not just a personal trip down memory lane.

The earthy, cultural experiences he documented in Vedurupaka tie directly into his upcoming film project, Yellamma. By immersing himself in the local traditions and reconnecting with the village's artistic heritage, he is drawing direct inspiration for the film's music. It looks like his work on Yellamma will be deeply rooted in these genuine folk sounds.
