The unsolved mysteries of the Shri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple's Vault B have always sparked curiosity. For director Abhishek Nama, this enigma became the perfect foundation for Nagabandham – The Secret Treasure. Releasing globally on July 3, this epic fantasy adventure seamlessly blends ancient mythology with commercial cinema. Produced on a massive scale by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishita Nagireddy, the film prioritizes a gripping, high-concept narrative over conventional star power.
Drawing from his fine arts and film distribution background, Nama chose to direct the movie himself to protect his unique visual style. To keep the story at the forefront, he deliberately cast newcomer Virat Karna as the lead. When shooting at real temples proved difficult due to strict permissions, Nama’s team relied on cinematic liberty. They transformed rough sketches from real-life temple visits into eight magnificent, intricately designed sets, building an entirely fictional world.
Nagabandham also breaks away from typical industry spending. Instead of exhausting funds on hefty actor remunerations, an impressive eighty percent of the budget was dedicated strictly to production, artwork, makeup, and heavy CGI. Thanks to this meticulous pre-production planning and the producers' complete trust, the director successfully wrapped the massive shoot in exactly 107 days.
Bringing this visual wonder to life demanded immense physical dedication from the cast. Actor Garuda Ram endured a grueling daily routine, arriving at midnight for six hours of makeup and carrying twenty kilos of prosthetics that made eating impossible. Veteran Jagapathi Babu shot intense water sequences late at night, while Virat Karna braved freezing winter temperatures to perform raw, unclad action stunts without a body double. Adding to the dynamic cast, Nabha Natesh brings depth to her role as a Vedic student named Nava Parvathi.
Elevated by a grand background score from newcomers Junaid and Abhi, Nagabandham is locked for a massive 2500-screen global release, including 700 screens in Hindi and 200 in Tamil. With pre-release business already closed following a phenomenal response to the promotional content, Nama is highly satisfied with the final cut and is already planning Nagabandham 2.
