There is likely to be no Jallikattu this Sankranthi in Tamil Nadu, with the Supreme Court recently saying that it will not be able to give verdict on allowing the bull taming sport on Saturday, when the harvest festival will be held. The court said it cannot hear a petition challenging its ban on Jallikattu as it is in the process of delivering judgement on the validity of a notification by the Centre allowing the sport.

While few actors are welcoming Supreme Court’s verdict, few others are opposing it. Actress Trisha Krishnan who is active member of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) is against conducting Jallikattu and she proclaimed the same several times.

In a dreadful incident, a large group of Jallikattu activists mobbed Trisha on sets of her current Tamil film, Garjanai, in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu. These protestors demanded Trisha to terminate her association with PETA and announce her support for Jallikattu.

Later, the production unit called police to ensure Trisha’s protection before things went out of order.
