Updated : Dec 29, 2025

Producers, exhibitors and distributors will remember 2025 as a year that did not yield big dividends to big action spectacles and star vehicles despite their price tag and star attraction. Here is the list of biggest disasters of the year 2025.

Game Changer: Game Changer suffered from "pacing issues" and a dated feel. The movie starring Ram Charan in the direction of Shankar was pitted as his biggest ticket to strengthen his Pan-India stardom post RRR. But it ended being an embarrassing disaster for him like Vinaya Vidheya Rama for Pongal.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam:  The year’s biggest shock came from the two giants - Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu. Akhanda 2 was criticized for being "over-the-top without soul," leading to massive losses. The movie coming from a formidable combination that gave three big hits failed to entertain audiences.

WAR 2: NTR and Hrithik Roshan coming together for the first time and YRF venturing into Pan-India production with War 2 and trying to take big leap into South Indian market met with huge losses and rejection from Day 1. The movie effectively paused YRF Spy Universe aggressive expansion.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1: Years of production delays and "unpolished VFX" hampered Pawan Kalyan’s period epic. The film’s astronomical budget made it one of the most significant disasters in recent Tollywood history.

Kingdom: Vijay Deverakonda teaming up with Jersey director Gowtam Tinnanuri ended as a huge dud as the big budget film lacked any soul and perfect pacing. It looked like an extended one part that has been dragged into two parts forcefully for Pan-India price tag.

Ghaati: Big comeback vehicle of Anushka Shetty into mass action genre failed in all departments to ignite any sort of admiration. Audiences rejected this Krish directorial without any trace after the first show upon release.

Mass Jathara: Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja continued to his poor run at the box office with heavily delayed Mass Jathara. While the film tried to play to Ravi Teja's strenghts, it just ended up being a bloated mess of a film with nothing working in its favor.

Thammudu & Robinhood: Nithiin saw two of his projects fall flat as audiences rejected "formulaic tropes." Thammudu in particular was a major blow, failing to recover even 30% of its production costs.

Bhairavam & Odela 2:  High-intensity action dramas starring Bellamkonda Sreenivas, and Tamannaah respectively failed to find an audience. Critics cited "tonal inconsistencies" as the primary reason for their quick exits.

Arjun S/O Vyjayanthi: Despite heavy marketing, this film struggled with visibility. Audiences preferred the year's smaller, more innovative hits over the traditional action buster attempt.

Telusu Kada: The movie had an interesting premise and good marketing as well. But the movie got panned for being too lop-sided and presenting one-way arguments rather than any "substantial content".

Andhra King Taluka: Rounding out the misses, this film was largely ignored by the public. Despite interesting premise, the lack of a "theatrical hook" led to substantial deficits for the producers.

Laila: Vishwaksen got panned for this film as it lacked any ounce of decency. This is not a miss, this is an abomination of senses and people rejected it outright.
