There has been continuous debate on who is the top director in south India- Telugu director SS Rajamouli or Tamil director Shankar. While Shankar made unique and exceptional films in very starting stages of career, Rajamouli is gradually reaching new heights with each film he is doing. Especially, Baahubali franchise made him star director in India. Shankar at few occasions stated that he likes Rajamouli a lot.

Post Baahubali 2 The Conclusion release many celebrities across the nation appreciated Rajamouli and other team of Baahubali 2. Superstar Rajinikanth and his Robo 2.0 director Shankar too join the list. 

Rajinikanth tweeted saying, “Baahubali 2 ... Indian cinema's pride. My salutes to God's own child @ssrajamouli and his team!!!  #masterpiece.” 

Later, Shankar too reacted stating, "Just saw Bahubali 2 - The pride of Indian Cinema.What a Bravery,Beauty, Grandness & Music.. Awestruck. Hats off to 'Raja'mouli artsts and team."

Interim, Shankar's magnum opus Robo 2.0 is slated for release in early of 2018.
