Story

Nara Rohit's voice over reveals that a valuable idol of lord Ganesh is stolen from Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, Kerala and the story revolves around this idol. Surya (Nikhil) is a pick pocket-er and spends his jovial life with his friend. While trying to escape from the public, Surya steals Swati's (Swati) new bike and get away with it. Swati tries to identify her bike but Surya bluffs and impresses her. Mean while lot of people including Jeeva, Ravi Babu and a minister wants to get hold of the valuable idol. Unknowingly, Swathi gets into this trap and Surya needs get the statue in order to save Swathi's life. Can Surya get hold of the statue ? Can he pull out Swathi from this trap? All these things must be watched on the big screen.

Analysis

Movie starts off with a brilliantly planned murder scenes and slowly the characterizations of Nikhil and his friends are revealed. As there is nothing new to show about the the life of pick-pocketers, director Sudheer Varma made the presentation look stylish. The way Nikhil and Swathi encounters and some fun moments between them is well shot. Pre-interval twist is nice and it raises the expectations of the audience.

Things start to unfold in the second half and most of this part will be in the chasing mode. A tight screenplay by the director is a plus point for the film as there is no boring moment. Ravi Babu and his associate's comedy is well executed. Not to say that its copied but the climax episode is very interesting and reminds us of 'Delhi Belly' sequence (Not Copied).

Teluguone Perspective

Film has started and within 5-10 minutes, we realized that Nikhil's characterization is well written. Debutant director Sudheer Varma took lot of care in each and every department and the audience can witness this on the big screen. Each and every character in the film has equal importance and every artist delivered decent performance. Though the film reminds us of some movies, Sudheer Varma's screenplay overshadowed that point. Director's way of narration is good and he seems to be highly influenced by the Hollywood director Quentin Tarantino (This director's making cant be compared by any means though). Tight screenplay, good picturisation of songs and some unpredictable scenes makes Swamy Ra Ra nice movie.

Performances

Nikhil's performance is a big surprise. Unlike in his earlier movies, he is cool and composed in Swamy Ra Ra. Swathi is as good as Banti Puvvu (Swathi call her bike as banthi puvvu in film) and her performance is good. Pooja Ramachandran is hot and she sizzled in some scenes. Ravi Babu, Jeeva and other actors have supported the film with their performances.

Technicalities

Songs and BGM by Sunny are good. Cinematography by Richard Prasad is one of the major asset for the film. Editing by Karthi Sai is good. Director Sudheer Varma must be appreciated not only for his directorial skills, but also for his screenplay and dialogues.
