Updated : May 18, 2026

Suriya has made a powerful comeback at the box office with his latest mythological action drama, Karuppu. Directed by RJ Balaji and co-starring Trisha Krishnan, the film has witnessed an incredible opening weekend, bringing massive relief to the exhibitors and ending the actor's recent dry spell.

While initial reports suggested the movie crossed Rs.52.5 crores gross in Tamil Nadu and Rs.115 crores worldwide, recent trade estimates indicate the film has actually achieved a staggering worldwide gross of over Rs.120.75 crores in just three days.

The film's momentum grew consistently over the weekend. Following a solid opening on Friday with Rs.15.50 crores in domestic net collections, the weekend saw a massive surge as positive word-of-mouth spread. By Sunday, the total India net collections reached Rs.68 crores, taking the domestic gross to nearly Rs.79 crores.

The theatrical experience, heavily elevated by Sai Abhyankkar's vibrant music and the intense God Mode trance elements, has deeply resonated with audiences. With minimal competition currently at the box office, Karuppu is rapidly on track to become one of Suriya's highest-grossing films, proving his undeniable stardom and drawing audiences back to the cinemas in huge numbers.
