Updated : Jan 10, 2015

Superstar Rajinikanth's 'Lingaa' which was released worldwide collected more than Rs. 100 crores at the box-office. However, given the fact that the film was sold for sky-high rates, distributors were unable to earn profits and have reportedly made an under recovery of 30 to 40 percent on their investments. Some of the distributors in Tamil Nadu have been threatening a hunger strike if Rajinikanth doesn’t settle their losses. The opinion gaining ground is that they don’t do such a thing when other heroes film get bombed at the box office and now these people are only doing this like a blackmail act given the Superstar’s cult status.
