What is Special 26 about ?

Special 26 takes its foundations from the infamous robbery of March 19, 1987, when 26 people posing as income tax officials raided a famous jewelry store in Opera House, Mumbai. They had walked away with jewels worth lakhs. This incident shocked jewelers across Zaveri Bazaar. Based on this, Neeraj Pandey was scripted a thrilling story with good actors.

What is Entertaining ?

First its the screenplay. Within the first 15 minutes, the real plot will be revealed to the audience but the director has carefully etched the scenes in such a way that the audience cannot predict the climax. There are some flaws in the film like, a state failing to identify a fake police and after that a high level CBI officer works closely with the same fake officer without any authentication. However, Lead actors Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpyee performances overshadows these mistakes.

Performances :

Audience expect high level action episodes, comedy scenes and noisy songs from Akshay Kumar, but the actor is completely different in 'Special 26'. Akshay Kumar kept his coolness through out the film and managed to deliver a wonderful performance along with Anupam Kher. Its always good to watch when actors like Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpayee are given larger roles in the film. Both these actors were at their best. Nothing to talk about Kajal Aggarwal, as she is roped in as a heroine as the audience need a heroine to watch.

Technicalities :

Music by MM Kreem is good. Cinematography by Bobby Singh is neat and the audience can feel the 80's time in the movie. Editing by Narayan Singh is perfect and Neeraj Pandey is the real hero for 'Special Chabbis'. His dialogues, screen-play and direction were good and especially after film like 'A Wednesday', the director has come up with a nice film.

Performance at Box-office :

In spite of opening up with highly positive reviews, Special 26 movie failed to get a thunderous start at the box-office. However, the film picked on the second day and the latest reports say that the collections are good across the India. Reportedly, Special Chabbis has collected 32.70 crores within the first 3 days from its release.

Final Note :

Overall, Special 26 is a must watch film. Neeraj Pandey's script, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Manoj Bajpyee's performances are an asset for the movie.
