Situations take in Kenny of encounters with a cab driver Sathyam(Santhanam) and a beauty contest winner Sarah(Amy Jackson). When the cops come to know that Kenny is Sivakumar, we got to know the flashback of the hero and his beautiful wife Meenakshi(Anushka). How did Siva Kumar turned into Kenny? How did he become blind ? Why is he killing the people ? The rest of the movie tells us how Kenny/Siva Kumar is drawn into problems and whether he will be able to succeed in his mission or not.
Analysis :
Siva Thandavam starts off on a slower note and the characterization of the actors will be revealed scene by scene. Director Vijay has well etched the first half with the suspense and twists in the story and characterizations. Especially, the love chemistry between Vikram and Anushka has been well executed. Entire movie rests on the shoulders of Vikram and his character will appear in almost every scene.
Though the first half of the movie is gripping, story falls flat in the second half. After a while, the story becomes very predictable. Especially a friend turning into foe type of plot has been shown in many films already. After knowing about the twist, audience will start losing interest in the film.
Teluguone Perspective :
Technically, Siva Thandavam has been shot well and director Vijay tried his best to keep audience engaged towards the movie. But, there are plenty of logical loopholes in the movie. For instance, Amy Jackson will be felicitated by Telugu federation in UK and they say that Amy was born to a Tamil Brahmin father and English christian mother. Another instance is, Vikram roaming in the streets of London, after his picture is published in news paper regarding the link with breakdown in warehouse.
Looking into the good side of the movie, the attempt to bring in a new concept of human echolocation must be appreciated. Even though the story is all about revenge, you cannot find much blood shed or any kind of disturbing violence in the movie. Finally, it is Vikram who will capture the attention of audience in this slick entertainer with his brilliant performance.
Performances :
Only one word for Vikram. He is terrific. Vikram's expressive eyes and his body language is extra ordinary. Vikram has excelled in both the roles he have done, one as a blind man and the other as RAW officer. Anushka is beautiful as usual and she made her presence felt in the limited role she was given. Jagapathi Babu is impressive and he has done the baddie role with ease. Amy Jackson has nothing much to do in the movie and Santhanam has been wasted. Nasser has done a neat job as well. Kota Srinivasa Rao and Shayaji Shinde roles were brief.
Technicalities :
Major asset for the movie is Nirav Shah's Cinematography. Entire film has a rich feel and the locations look picturesque. GV Prakash's music is ok and the BGM is good. Action scenes composed by Manohar Verma are very good. Editor Anthony has done his job , but could have edited many scenes to make the film not so lengthy.
Positives :
Vikram's Performance
Love Chemistry between Vikram and Anushka
Negatives :
Predictable Second Half
Slow narration
Too Many Logical Loop Holes
Final Word : Recommended only for movie buffs and too for Vikram's fantastic performance.
Siva Thandavam Rating: 2.75/5
