Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma and Bollywood star filmmaker Karan Johar have a history of engaging in Twitter wars. They got a fresh revival on the context of K Vishwanath awarded Dada Saheb Phalke. While congratulating the legendary filmmaker, RGV targeted his rival K Jo.
‘Vishwanath gaaru nenu Daada saheb cinemaloo choosanu mee cinemaloo choosanu ..naa vuddheshamlo Dada saheb ki mee peru meeda award ivvali. Forget public not one in film people would have ever seen a Phalke film. A really relevant award for today will be a Raju Hirani or a Karan Johar award. Phalke made 95 films and I dint see a single film equivalent of K Jo film. I think it’s just being ancient not recognizing value of present. This is not in disrespect to Phalke but it’s in respect to K Jo because just as a viewer I love Jo films far more than Phalke films,’ RGV said.
Interim, RGV lauded Baahubali director SS Rajamouli and criticized other filmmakers. “I have a strong feeling SS Rajamouli 's Bahubali 2 will make rest of all film makers in country feel like amateur TV serial directors,” said RGV.
