Story :

Narayana Rao (Rajendra Prasad) is a teacher by profession and good Samaritan by nature. Though he is an orphan, he completes his education by the help of village head (Chalapati Rao) and settle down as a teacher in his village. Things turn around and Narayana Rao has to leave his village and go to America to spend time with his son and their family. Unable to leave his native place, Narayana Rao comes back to his village and finds that the entire scenario is changed.  How did a person like Narayana Rao, who has lived his entire life helping others reacted to this? Is he able to change the mind set of the people and enlighten them ? All these should be watched on the big screen.

Analysis :

First half of the movie is all about goodness and caring others. Director Kranthi Madhav shot the entire movie in a perfect rural village and the audience can really feel the freshness.  The scenes in which Rajendra Prasad make a student understand about Hindu-Muslim equality was too good. 'Onamalu' has got many scenes in the first half which depicts the current day scenario and the director has succeed in executing it. Being a message oriented film, there no  pre climax scenes or any interval bangs.

The second half of the movie is also well etched with ample scope of  sentiment and valued. Post interval, genre of the movie changes from goodness to sympathy. Rajendra Prasad feels disappointed by the way things took around in his village. Climax episode is the one of the major highlight in the film and the director has to be appreciated for a thought provoking message.

TeluguOne Perspective :

'Onamalu' movie has got a simple logic, “Serve the people as much as you can, god will take care of you”. Director and producer Kranthi Madhav needs to be appreciated for coming up with such a message oriented film. Dialogues are the major asset for the film and you can hear some fresh lines which we generally hear in villages. Rajendra Prasad, once a comedy king, has once again delivered one the best ever performances. Nothing to complain about story, screen play, dialogues music etc. The narrative style of the director is perfect and clear.Dialogues like " Swaathantram vachi 64 yeellu aina 24 gantalu current ivvalekapothunnaru pallelaki" really reminds us where we are in terms of development. Audience can really sit back and enjoy the film and once they are out the theaters, they can really relate the movie to their day to day lives.

Performances :

Rajendra Prasad has once again delivered a strong and emotional performance. The way he carried the role of Narayana Rao must be appreciated. Kalyani, who got back into the films after a long time has given a decent performance. Raghu Babu comedy  is good and the performances of  senior artists Chalapati Rao, Giri Babu and Siva Parvati are credible.

Technicalities :

Koti has provided some fresh music and Lyricist Sirivennela Sitarama Sastri has give wonderful lyrics for the songs. Dialogues by Khadir Babu are the major asset for the movie. Cinematography by Hari Anumolu and editing by Goutham Raju are fine. Tammudu Satyam has written a wonderful story and director Kranthi Madhav has wonderfully executed it on the screen. Production values by Sunshine movies are good.

Positives :
Fresh dialogues and message oriented story
Rajendra Prasad Performance
Lyrics

Negatives :
Nothing much to complain about this movie but the second half is bit slow

Final Word : For the people who loved 'Aa Naluguru' and 'Mee Sreyobhilashi', 'Onamalu' is a must watch.

Onamalu Rating : 3/5
