Sources inform that Naga Chaitanya starring Bezawada Rowdilu producer is Ram Gopal Varma and he's not going to direct the movie. In stead of Ram Gopal Varma, his protege Vivek will be the director of Naga Chaitanya Bezawada Rowdilu. Vivek is yet another debutant director, emerging from Ram Gopal Varma school.

The title of Naga Chaitanya Bezawada Rowdilu to be produced by Ram Gopal Varma created much hullabaloo at the time of movie's announcement itself. Vijayawada people protested that the title Bezawada Rowdilu is demeaning the people of Vijayawada. Interestingly, their protests made Ram Gopal Varma more excited to go ahead and making of Naga Chaitanya Bezawada Rowdilu started. It is said, the story of Naga Chaitanya Bezawada Rowdilu is based on two warring groups of Bezawada (Vijayawada).
