Director Nag Ashwin's dream project Mahanati, biopic of legendary actress Savitri, will have space for several top actors in south industry. While Keerthy Suresh is reprising the veteran actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen in an important role. Malayalam actor Dulquar Salman is roped into play the controversial role of Gemini Ganesan.

Latest update about the project is makers are hoping to zero in senior actor Mohan Babu to play SV Ranga Rao in the film. Nonetheless, official confirmation is awaited on this. In fact, Mohan Babu who took some gap from films is also looking for better scripts. He also acquired Telugu remake rights of Tamil hit Power Pandi.
