The scuttlebutt has it that Mani Ratnam and Ram Charan Tej movie is struggling to get financiers. Ram Charan Tej would be playing Ponniyin Selvan (alongside hero Vijay), which is supposed to be donned by Mahesh Babu. However, Mani Ratnam could not mobile finances for Mahesh Babu and as such the movie was shelved.
Freshly, it was gossiped that Mani Rathnam roped in Ram Charan Tej for this bilingual movie but sources say Mani Ratnam is finding it difficult to source finance even with Ram Charan Tej as hero. Ram Charan Tej's Maaveeran (Magadheera in Tamil) is about to be released and as such Mani Ratnam thought he could raise some financers if he can replace Mahesh Babu with Ram Charan Tej. But looks like even that option is not working for Mani Ratnam.
Mani Ratnam was very impressed with Ram Charan's Bhairava get up in Magadheera and thought that he would suit for playing King Aditha Karikalan. However, with the budget going beyond 100 crores, no financier is coming forward to fund the project and several even advised to shelve this project. So what will Mani Ratnam do?
