Story

Mahankali (Rajsekhar) is a sincere police officer who never arrests anyone but kills. Madhurima is an actress who is rescued by Mahankali when a goon tries to harass her sexually. Impressed with the guts of our hero, she falls in love with Mahankali. After a couple of incidents, Mahankali suddenly turns as a puppet in the hands of a mafia don against whom he was fighting for some years. What is the mystery behind this and the motive of Mahankali forms the rest of the story.

Analysis

Director took no time to establish the character of Mahankali as the opening scenes says it all. Just like in his other movies, Rajasekhar is an honest cop whose main motive is to end the mafia criminals. One good thing in the film is that Rajasekhar doesn’t have any dance moves in the film. Right from the starting scene to the climax, audience can relate the scenes to number of movies (Some of Rajasekhar’s earlier movies too). Predictable plot and poor narration makes the movie even worse.

Teluguone Perspective

After watching the film, many people in the theater felt that it would have been better if they have opted to see ‘Ankusam’ movie once again rather than preferring this. Undoubtedly, Rajasekhar is a perfect choice for a cop film but he has got nothing to perform due to the weak script. Background score by Chinna is one of the main drawbacks as he tried to scare the audience with his music. Madhurima has got no scope to perform in this hero oriented movie. Production values are very poor and the best example is Pradeep Rawat’s characterization. Instead of showing him as a rich person, director portrayed his character like a local goon.

Performances

Rajasekhar is as usual good as a cop. Madhurima is just ok as she has got nothing much to do in the movie. Pradeep Rawat, Jeeva and the other villains have done the job given to them by the director.

Technicalities

Music and BGM by Chinna are mediocre. Screenplay and direction by Jeevitha could have been much better. Editing is ok and cinematography is not upto the mark.

Positives

May be Rajasekhar, other than that nothing

Negatives

Everything

Final Word
: Watch it at your own risk.

Mahankali Movie Rating : 2/5
