Katrina Kaif will be conferred with an honour for her notable contributions to the Hindi Film industry. Katrina will be honoured with the Smita Patil Memorial Award at a glittering Global Awards ceremony, which will be held in the city on September 19. The award is instituted by Priyadarshni Academy and several Bollywood divas have received this honour before like Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra and others. The Priyadarshni Academy is an NGO engaged in socio-cultural and education activities and has been holding the awards event since 1984. Several internally renowned celebrities are also honoured at this global awards event.

Niranjan Hiranandani, the Chairman, Priyadarshni Academy, said, “The academy has been giving this distinguished award ever since it was established, and this year, the jury has unanimously nominated Katrina for the Smita Patil Memorial Award for her work in films". Nanik Rupali the Founder Chairman said, “This award goes to her as a recognition to an outstanding individual who has shown excellence in her field.” Katrina Kaif's last release with Sidharth Malhotra, Baar Baar Dekho, didn't perform well at the box office. The acres has also been finalised to be cast opposite Salman Khan in the sequel to Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai.
