I will not make political films Only devotional films from now RGV

Renowned director-producer Ram Gopal Varma aims to empower young talent seeking entry into the film industry through his RGV Your Film Contest. Details of the contest were unveiled at a press meet held today in Hyderabad. Short filmmakers and RGV Den producer Ravi participated in the program.

The contest has attracted entries from various states across the country. "At the beginning of my first film, 'Siva', nobody knew who I was. It was the success of 'Siva' that put me on the map. There are many talented individuals out there, just like me, who haven't gotten their big break yet. My own entry into the industry was facilitated by my father, who worked as a sound engineer at Annapurna Studios. But what I did after entering the industry is what truly defined me. Shouldn't there be a platform for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their concepts? The RGV Your Film Contest aims to provide such an opportunity for talented individuals who might otherwise struggle to get noticed. Since the announcement, the contest has received over 400 entries from across various Indian states," RGV said.

He added, "We shortlisted 11 short films and selected them for further consideration. Other films, also from North India, didn't make the shortlist. The shortlisted films will be put to a social media poll. The director who receives the most votes will be offered an opportunity with our organization. While I won't reveal names, I have already chosen two directors for film projects. We are also seeking talented individuals in other crafts like cinematography and music direction. The social media poll will run for two weeks. These filmmakers have demonstrably stronger directing skills than myself."

"Production value isn't a priority for these films. My focus is on how well the concept is conveyed. High production value can sometimes overshadow films made with limited resources, but these projects showcase impressive concept development," RGV reasoned.

"Ravi, the producer, and I have a self-serving interest: we would like to give priority to the contest winners within our organization. However, our goal isn't solely to provide opportunities and encouragement. We understand they might move on eventually. It's important to give someone a first chance, allowing them to prove themselves and advance in their careers."
