Updated : May 5, 2026

Sumanth Prabhas is stepping completely out of his comfort zone for his upcoming rural family drama, Godari Gattupaina. After breaking out with a strong Telangana backdrop in his debut film Mem Famous, the young actor spent four solid months mastering the Godavari dialect to ensure authenticity. Releasing worldwide on May 8, the movie has already generated a decent buzz among moviegoers, largely thanks to its creative promotional campaigns designed by the actor himself.

Directed by Subhash Chandra, who brings his vast experience from directing over a hundred short films, the project is backed by producer Abhinav. The makers made a conscious decision to shoot entirely in real locations to capture the natural beauty of the Godavari region. Instead of the typical rugged mass portrayal, Sumanth will be seen playing an innocent and lovable auto driver, complete with an exciting auto race sequence.

The casting choices also add a very interesting layer to the film. Veteran actor Jagapathi Babu is taking a much-needed break from his recent string of fierce antagonist roles to play a soft, highly relatable character reminiscent of his classic family hits like Shubhalagnam. He is joined by Nidhi Pradeep as the female lead, who learned Telugu specifically for her part, and Devi Prasad, who plays a crucial father figure to the hero.

With a strong focus on a father-daughter bond and a breezy rural love story, the team is hoping to strike the right emotional chord this summer and deliver a solid theatrical hit.
