Even before the Liger promotions began, Puri Jagannadh planned and announced his next pan-India entertainer Jana Gana Mana starring Vijay Devarakonda. Everyone assumed Vijay had locked down this project because of his trust in Puri Jagganadh.

Liger was recently released and instantly became the best disaster of the year, defeating Acharya. Due to negative reviews and wom, the film only lasted one week in theatres.

Following the presence of Vijay Devarakonda, fans urged VD to withdraw from the project. Without any comments from Vijay, everyone assumed that the film would go ahead because the makers had already completed the first schedule with Pooja Hegde.
