Superstar Mahesh Babu and Stylish Star Allu Arjun were initially in summer race with their respective films Spyder and Duvvada Jagannadham. However, both the films postponed owing to delay in production works. While Baahubali: The Conclusion is the true winner of summer, Katamarayudu became biggest disaster of the season. Here is box office report of noted Telugu films released during this summer:
Katamarayudu: Expectations were huge on Katamarayudu, since it had Power Star Pawan Kalyan playing male lead and his Gabbar Singh co-star Shruti Haasan played female lead. The Dolly directed film which was remake of Tamil hit Veeram turned out to be a biggest dud for summer.
Guru: Victory Venkatesh was in bad phase with flops. Sudha Kongara directed Guru provided much needed break for the actor. Besides winning critical acclaims, the movie which was remake of Hindi film Saala Khadoos also ended as a commercial hit.
Rogue: Puri Jagannadh made this film with routine script. Ishaan was introduced as hero. Due to sluggish narration and lack of entertainment, Rogue botched to impress audiences, so box office result was flop.
Mister: Mega hero Varun Tej pinned many hopes on the film and mega fans too hoped the film to become a super hit as it was directed by Srinu Vaitla who is known for making hilarious entertainers. Nonetheless, the film failed miserably at BO.
Baahubali: The Conclusion: SS Rajamouli directed Baahubali 2 had done enormous pre-release business and if this had become a flop, it would have provided huge losses to distributors. Thankfully, the magnum opus film had got overwhelming response from audiences as well as critics. The Prabhas, Rana, Anushka and Tamanna starrer became biggest blockbuster in India with around 1700 Cr collections.
Babu Baga Busy: This film is remake of Hindi adult-comedy Hungerrr. Neither Avasarala Srinivas fit the bill of playboy, neither director Naveen made it as a perfect entertainer. Though the film Babu Baga Busy was made with low budget, it became a disaster.
Radha: Sharwanand was in excellent form and his last movie Shatamanam Bhavati was a blockbuster. However, Radha which released with great expectations was not up to the mark, so ended up as a flop.
Venkatapuram: Rahul and Mahima Makhwana starrer Venkatapuram got mixed response from critics and the film turned out as an average grosser.
Keshava: Young Hero Nikhil has been doing continuous experiments and Keshava was also an experimental film. While one section of audiences lauded the film, others didn't like it. Overall, the Sudheer Varma directed movie minted decent profits for producers as well as distributors as it was made with decent budget.
Rarandoi Veduka Chudham: Though the Naga Chaitanya and Rakul Preet Singh starred film got mixed response, it raked good numbers from ticket window. The Kalyan Krishna directorial is another Summer hit with 22 worldwide shares till date.
