Story:

David Billa (Ajith) comes as a Sri Lankan refugee into India for shelter and fights for justice in the refugee camp. Billa has lost his parents and his sister stays in Goa with her daughter (Parvathy Omanakuttan). Meanwhile a conspiracy is made against Billa to kill him by his rivals in refugee camp. But Billa accomplishes the task given and that opens the doors for him to enter into underworld business. Billa manages to gain confidence from Abbasi (Sudhanshu Pandey) which makes him famous among the world gangsters.  But the rise of his images creates rift between Abbasi and Billa end up killing him. There begins the blood battle between Billa and other gangsters. How Billa has overcome all the hurdles needs to be watched on big screen.

Analysis:

First Half of the movie is all about how Billa has turned into gangster, and his encounters with other gangsters. Story begins in coastal belt of Tamil Nadu and later on it is moved to Goa. Introduction fight of Ajith is fine and the actor has portrayed the role of a Gangster once again with ease. Entire movie rests on the shoulders of Ajith and his character will appear in almost every scene. Story moves on with Billa killing each of his opponents and the interval bang is good where Billa announce his arrival into Mafia word independently.

Story loses its tempo slowly in the second half. Both the heroines, Parvathy Omanakuttan and Bruna Abdullah has nothing to do in 'David Billa' and they seems to be appeared as cameos. Gripping fight sequence where Billa invades Dmitri's (Vidyut Jamwal) weapons factory is shot well and is the only episode to be mentioned in the second half.

TeluguOne Perspective :

Technically, there is nothing to complain about director Chakri Toleti. He should have taken enough care with the story itself. Ajith has once again given his best performance and made 'David Billa' a One Man Show and is seen in almost every scene. Audience can see the flavor of SS Rajamouli's 'Chatrapathi', as the first 20 minutes of the story happens in a refugee camp. The way, how a refugee has turned into a gangster is convincing but with cinematic liberty.

Heroines are a big let down for 'David Billa' . Both the heroines have nothing much to do and some section of audience may really think whether there are any leading ladies in 'David Billa' or not. Being a slick entertainer, director Chakri Toleti thought that comedy is not necessarily important. A lot of hype has been given to Brazilian model Gabriela Bertante's  but she doesn't live upto the hype.

Performances :

Ajith has once again delivered a strong performance as a baddie and is the heart and soul of the movie. Heroines Bruna Abdullah and Parvati Omanakuttan have just appeared like a cameos. Vidyut Jamwal has given some decent performance and Sudhanshu Pandey was ok. Rest of the cast have done their part.

Technicalities :

Cinematography by RD Rajasekhar is the major asset for 'David Billa'. Yuvan Shankar Raja has provided a very good background score but none of the songs seems to be catchy. Dialogues by Sarath Mandava are just ok and editor Suresh Urs has done his job. Fight Sequences composed by K Rajasekhar are effective.

Positives:

Ajith's Performance
Action Episodes

Negatives:

Songs
Heroines
Slow Narration

Final Word : David Billa is strictly recommended only for Slick movie lovers

David Billa Rating : 2.25/5
