Adirindhi Tamil version Mersal released few weeks ago was a massive hit. Will the movie do same magic here in Telugu?

Story:

A doctor and a magician Bhargav (Vijay) is arrested as suspected in kidnap of an ambulance driver, hospital manager and a medical broker. Bhargav narrates the reason for kidnapping the people related to medical field. Before the kidnap, Bhargav had killed a private hospital dean. While the dean’s close friend and partner was looking for the murder a shocking twist in the tale is revealed. Actually, who’s Bhargav? Why he killed the hospital dean and has kidnapped medical people? What’s his story?

 Positives:

1. Story
2. First Half
3. Nithya Menen

Negatives:

1. Tamil Flavor In Second Half
2. Songs
3. Length

Analysis:

Adirindhi deals with corruption in medical field. Though it is a good message oriented film, director Atlee made it as a commercial entertainer. First half of the movie was gripping, except for songs. In fact, songs played spoilsport. A girl’s accident scene was shot brilliantly. In fact, Atlee is an expert in canning accident episodes. Then, the next episodes of ambulance driver dealing with hospitals and conversation of doctor with manager in Operation Theater will make everyone emotional. A twist in pre-interval is bang-on. However, movie turns a bit slow in second half where flashback episodes are portrayed. Excess of Tamil flavor in village episodes may not connect to Telugu spectators. However, Nithya Menon steals the show with outstanding performance. Dialogues in climax portions are thought-provoking.

Artists Performances:

Vijay is a mass hero. But, he has failed to make his mark in Telugu. Coming to Adirindhi, he has given his best. He was brilliant in triple roles. His fights, dances and acting were top-class. SJ Suryah who played main antagonist is equally good. His retro look in flashback episodes and stylish look in current episodes were admirable. Nithya Menon is other big asset of the film. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Kajal Agarwal were okay. Sathyaraj was decent and Vadivelu was good.

Technical Aspect:

Though the plot penned by Atlee was old, Vijayendra Prasad penned gripping screenplay. He has once again exhibited his direction skills in dealing key episodes. Above all, dialogues are biggest asset. Cinematography by GK Vishnu was vivid. Actually, there was lavish in each and single frame because of his superior work. AR Rahman’s songs were below par, though his work for background score is top class. Editor Ruben should have chopped couple of songs in first half and few episodes in second half. Production values of Thenandal Studio Limited are top notch.

Verdict:

Adirindhi is definitely a good film. But, it is to be seen how Telugus will receive it.

TeluguOne Perspective:

Adirindhi, But…
