Actress Vidya Balan has been diagnosed with dengue on Thursday and has been advised bed rest for the next 10-15 days by her doctor according to reports. The actress had just returned from US schedule of “Kahaani 2”, her forthcoming film along with Begum Jaan. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials conducted a thorough inspection of her building to locate possible mosquito breeding grounds.
An inspection at Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor's house by the municipal body lead to the discovery of dengue breeding mosquitoes inside his swimming pool. Kapoor lives on the ground floor in the same apartment complex as Balan in Juhu. “In a flat on the fourth floor, we found a Petri dish for plants and a tarpaulin on the terrace and an unused swimming pool in Kapoor’s flat were found to be mosquito breeding spots. We have served notices to both of them,” said Rajan Naringrekar, the insecticide officer of the civic body. After conducting widespread inspections, the BMC has sent more than 18,000 notices to homes and offices in which it found mosquito breeding spots. It has collected more than Rs25 lakh in penalties.
