Updated : Jul 7, 2026

Vishal's ambitious project Magudam, which marks his return to the director's chair alongside playing the lead role, has reportedly been put on hold despite completing its shoot. The film was initially expected to begin promotions soon and target a July release, but the plans are now said to have changed.

According to industry buzz, the delay is linked to the unfortunate demise of veteran producer R. B. Choudary. Sources suggest that discussions related to succession and the future functioning of the production banner are currently underway among his sons, resulting in major decisions, including Magudam's release strategy, being temporarily deferred.

While there has been no official announcement from the makers regarding a new release date, the film is believed to be awaiting clarity before promotional activities begin. With the shoot already wrapped up, the project is essentially ready for release once the internal discussions are concluded.

Magudam is one of Vishal's most anticipated films as he has taken on both acting and directing responsibilities. Fans were expecting the promotional campaign to kick off this month, but the unexpected developments behind the scenes appear to have pushed the film's release plans further down the calendar.
