Thanks to K Raghavendra Rao's film on Shirdi Sai Baba, the mystic wanderer of the 19th century, Akkineni Nagarjuna and MM Keeravani have turned Baba's devotees. Yes, the ace actor and popular musician have recently went on a pilgrimage to Shirdi, Maharashtra. In fact, the producer of the film, Mahesh Reddy, reveals that three songs were composed by Keeravani in the abode of Sai Baba during the visit.
The musical sittings were conducted by Keeravani along with his team for seven days in the holy town. It is common on the part of film makers to kick start work at a sacred place especially when the film is of devotional genre. It may be noted that recently Kodi Ramakrishna too visited the Prashanthi Nilayam to announce the plans to launch a film on the life of late Puttaparthi Sai Baba. The songs of Annamayya and Sri Ramadasu were big musical hits, though the latter compares poorly to the popularity of the original. It seems Raghavendra Rao and Keeravani want to repeat history yet again with Shirdi.
