Updated : Feb 21, 2017

For the first time in India, submarine war based drama genre has been attempted and debutante director Sankalp Reddy has pulled it off with great success. Credit must be given to him for the engaging narrative and the amount of research gone into this. However, it is heard that, Sankalp copied many sequences from Hollywood movie Crimson Tide to make Ghazi.

Crimson Tide is story of a captain of a submarine who wants to launch an attack while his deputy wants to wait for ratification. Their conflict intensifies into a revolt with both of them fighting for the command of the ship.

Even Ghazi has the same drama between Kaykay Menon and Rana Daggubati. While Kay Kay Menon is of rebel nature and higher officials appoint Rana, a rule follower, to resist him taking tough decisions. Scenes like Menon warning Rana and aiming gun at him and many other scenes in first half were simply copied from Crimson Tide.

Nonetheless, Sankalp Reddy didn’t take any reference for penning second half. Though he took inspiration from few submarine based films to make Ghazi, he rightly balanced drama and thrill.
