Updated : Jun 29, 2026

Director Cibi Chakravarthy, who made a successful debut with Don, has had an eventful journey trying to lock his next sophomore project. After the success of the Sivakarthikeyan-starrer, the filmmaker was linked with several high-profile stars, but none of those collaborations eventually took off. Now, industry buzz suggests that Cibi is in discussions with Chiyaan Vikram for his next directorial.

Following Don, Cibi was initially expected to reunite with Sivakarthikeyan. While the duo reportedly held multiple discussions, the project never materialised as both moved on to other commitments. The director was later said to be developing a Telugu film with Nani, but those talks also failed to reach the production stage.

The biggest opportunity came when Cibi secured a film with Superstar Rajinikanth, to be produced by Kamal Haasan's banner. However, Rajinikanth later clarified that the script required significantly more pre-production as it had many elements before it could go on floors. Instead of going with such hi-fi subject, the superstar moved ahead with Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu, which has now commenced shooting.

With that chapter closed, Cibi Chakravarthy appears to have shifted his focus to a new collaboration. Sources indicate that the director is currently in talks with Chiyaan Vikram, although discussions are said to be at an early stage. Neither the actor nor the filmmaker has officially confirmed the project.
