Slowly but surely, Tollywood directors, technicians and actors, one after the other, are making national headlines after the success of their movies. At a stage when dubbed Tamil films have an unmatched popularity in Telugu, yet, Tamil filmmakers could not lash on to the big stage (Bollywood) in a strange irony. Today, Tollywood cast and crew are striking a chord in Bollywood and let’s see some of the recent talent that went Bollywood way!
Puri Jagannath
Remember, after blockbuster ‘Pokiri’, director Puri Jagannath has become a hot property so much so that even the Kollywood and Bollywood circles have started to ask about him. His mobile was ringing non-stop after Pokiri success as Puri and Mahesh Babu together delivered their career-best film. Puri had a strategic advantage in the form of being an RGV protégé. He slowly proved his mettle and finally forayed into Bollywood fraternity with Buddah Hoga Tera Baap. After a series of flops in Tollywood, Puri Jagannath finally struck gold in his first attempt in Bollywood with this movie.
Rajamouli
Magadheera has kept Telugu cinema on international map. Magadheera swept regional awards and also bagged new national awards. With grandeur, intense drama and high voltage action scenes, Rajamouli was the name everyone’s talking about. He was even asked to remake Magadheera in Hindi and rumors riffed that Ranbhir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are starring in Hindi version. However, Rajamouli denied all offers and stuck to his task of focusing on Tollywood.
Sreenu Vailta
Freshly, Seenu Vaitla is also enjoying a similar stint after the super success of Dookudu. His name is on everybody’s lip as all top heroes and producers are curious to know about this ‘King of Comedy’. From Bollywood to Kollywood, Seenu Vaitla already received several offers from various big shots asking him to either remake Dookudu or direct a new film. But ever since Salman Khan expressed interest to remake Dookudu in Hindi, Seenua Vaitla has decided to put on hold all other projects (including Jr NTR’s) and make his Bollywood debut. Salman is yet to give his confirmation but mind you, Salman remade ‘Ready’ in Hindi, which was also originally made by Srinu Vaitla.
Similarly, Manchu Lakshmi, Daggubati Rana, Brahmaji (Department), Subba Raju, Charmi (Buddah Hoga Tera Baap) Kona Venkat (Sher Khan and Hindi Dhee) etc. are all testing waters in Bollywood. So let’s hope they all get a good break!
