Sundeep Kishn has been working hard to become a star and it has become a task for him to consistently deliver sucesses at the box office. He impressed everyone with his performance in Raayan and now, he is looking to entertain all with Mazaka. Trinadha Rao Nakkina and Prasanta Kumar Bezawada combination has been delivering successes and let's discuss if they repeat the magic.

Plot:
Venkataramana (Rao Ramesh) works in a consultancy and his son, Krishna (Sundeep Kishn) has always been looking for motherly love and warmth. As his wife died soon after giving birth, Venkat decided to dedicate his life for his son. But being bachelors, both of them face humiliations and hence, look for perfect match to marry and complete family.

Krishna meets Meera (Ritu Varma) and Venkat meets Yashoda (Anshu). Both fall in love and they want their significant others to accept them. The ladies belong to family of a famous businessman Bhargav Varma (Murli Sharma) and he is a psycho. His will these love stories reach their destination and form a family forms rest of the story.

Analysis :

We have seen an aged father being pushed to re-marry by his son or daughter in several films. More famously, Chiranjeevi's Andarivadu, Krishnam Raju's Maa Nanna ku Pelli come to our mind when we touch upon such a storyline. Makers of Mazaka tried to be conscious about this fact but few similarities did come here and there.

In Jim Carrey films, the entire world surrounding his character used to be created in such a fashion, to fit the over the top shenanigans of the actor in a typical character. Even Adam Sandler films had such features in his hay days. Mazaka makers try to bring such weirdness to the world created around the main characters but the tone and pitch seem off the track.

Rao Ramesh gave his character everything to play it as is but more jokes don't land even from him. Sundeep Kishn did his best to make sense of the randomness of the screenplay and scenes. There is no fixed tone to the proceedings and a proper character for both the leads whom, we are expected to connect with. Bhale Bhale Magadivoy offers both unique character and perfect space to connect with it.

Here, makers tried to balance everything without really concentrating on anything. Trinadha Rao Nakkina's major strength lies in handling comedy yet the film feels one meter down from his usual pacing and enthusiasm. While he and his writer Prasanna Kumar Bezawada did try to infuse movie with gags and funny one-liners but they are not hilarious.

They even don't leave you with a smile throughout. Anshu got a heavy character but she did not even care to give lip sync. Ritu Varma's character, Murli Sharma's character all seem to have potential but none are really explored. It almost seems like random gags have been stitched together with good music by Leon James, which also don't impress fully, in the runtime.

While cinematography and production values are good, movie could have been better edited. While the randomness in screenplay is understandable but jerks in editing could have been avoided. VFX does hamper few scenes. All said and done, Mazaka couldn't really deliver the Majaa that it promised even though there is potential.

TeluguOne Perspective :

Not enough Majaa as second hour drags too much.
