Old are Gold

"If you associate enough with older people who do enjoy their lives, who are not stored away in any golden ghettos, you will gain a sense of continuity and of the possibility for a full life." - Margaret Mead
Senior citizens deserve more respect because of their experience in life. They have to be treated with love and care but because of the negligence of their family, they are sent to homes that take care of such people.
The International Day for Older Persons is celebrated on October 1 throughout the world, and is an important time to remind governments about their pledges to work towards the Millennium Development Goals of helping, among other things, to end hunger and poverty for older persons and people of all ages.
In 1950 there were 200 million people over 60 years old - by 2000 that number had tripled to nearly 600 million and by 2025 it is estimated that there will be over 1 billion older persons.
There are many organizations rendering this service. Help age India is an establishment that takes care of old people. Little Sisters of the Poor is another.  “Many in our society failed to understand that it is their duty to take care of their parents as they were taken care when were young. They failed to understand that the same might happen to them. Elders may have been neglected as the present generation. But as the members of the future generation, it is our duty to take care of our parents and elders”, says X class student Ahmed. TeluguOne respects the old people and their contribution to the society and their guidance to young folks. On this occasion TeluguOne.com wishes a Happy Dasara to the wise generation and prays for their happy moments with good health and prosperity. TeluguOne Foundation also helps to the needy senior citizens at its best.
“A longer life provides humans with an opportunity to examine their lives in retrospect, to correct some of their mistakes, to get closer to the truth and to achieve a different understanding of the sense and value of their actions. This may well be the more important contribution of older people to the human community. Especially at this time, after the unprecedented changes that have affected humankind in their lifetime, the reinterpretation of life-stories by the aged should help us all to achieve the urgently needed reorientation of history." -- United Nations - International Plan of Action on Aging
