Whole Moong dal Curry

 

 

 

 

Ingredients:
whole Moong dal - 1 big cup

onion - big 1.. chopped

green chilli  - 2 & ginger 1 inch piece. (ground to a paste)

cumin seeds - ¼ sp

mustard seeds - ¼ sp

curry leaves

tomatoes -2 chopped

hing

turmeric powder - ¼ sp

coriander powder - ½ sp (optional...if used tastes delicious)

Amchur powder - ¼ (optional.....if used tastes delicious)

black  pepper powder - ¼ sp

jeera powder - ¼

Chat Masala - ½ sp

Red chilly powder -  acc to taste (if green chillies paste is enough..then no need to use chilly  powder)

fresh curd  - ½ cup (beat & mix ¼ sp roasted jeera powder)

 

Preparation :
1) Wash and soak green whole moong dal  overnight
2) Cook  in a pressure cooker next morning up to 2 whistles ...with more water...and once boiled remove extra water so that it doesn't become soggy or sticky..
3) Now take oil in a Pan add cumin,  mustard seeds, hing curry leaves, green chilly ginger paste, onions ...
4) Saute fr  2 to 3 minutes add chopped tomatoes , turmeric & coriander powder, chilly powder, amchoor powder ,black pepper powder & salt ...saute well..
5) Cook for 4- 5 minutes and add boiled moong dal and add chat masala..cook for 2 minutes wd lid ...done..
6) Final tip...Add a  small cup of beaten curd and mix well in this with cumin (jeera) powder..let it b fr 1 minute ..switch off d stove and garnish wd coriander...
tastes too good!! PROTEINS VITAMINS AND CALCIUM! ! In one bowl!!  (this step is optional but I strongly recommend)..

Serve with Rice or Pulka.
