Bank employees not allowed to strike by High court

Even the courts seem to have been fed up with strikes. In what could a radical judgement, the high court of Karnataka has disallowed the IDBI bank employees of the state to carry on a strike. Observing that the strike would not only disrupt the lives of its customers, but would also derail the economy... the court has passed an interim order to nullify the proposed strike. Earlier, the 800 odd employees of IDBI across the state of Karnataka has issued a notice to the management, about a strike from March 28 to 31.
But now the High court has allowed them only to hold meeting within the union premises without disrupting the bank activity. The employees have called for the strike against the proposal to reduce the government’s stake in the below 51%. They fear that such a change in the capital might post a threat to their job security. The repeated assurances by the management hasn’t done any good to their confidence. Now the High court’s order might certainly intensify their fears.
