Bhgyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee and the state government were urged by the Hyderabad Hight court that the ideal height of 15ft must be maintained for all the Ganesh idols in all the pandals during Ganesh Chaturthi and that necessary steps should be taken that the height of the idols shall not exceed the ideal height specified. The division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice P Naveen Rao also suggested that separate bins must be arranged at the lakes during immersion of Ganesh idols to dispose of the puja material instead of dumping it in the lakes along with idols. The Maharashtra government arranges such bins at the immersion points, Justice Bhosale added. In order to make the festival more eco friendly the bench told the state government and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to ensure that only natural colours are used in making of Ganesh idols. While asking the government to file a report detailing the steps taken for reduction of the height of the idols and also cleaning of Hussainsagar after the immersions.
