Sudheer Babu, despite starring in different films is failing to reach next level of stardom since his films are not minting money at box-office. He hopes Sammohanam directed by Indraganti will change his feat. Let’s see how far this film will be helpful for his career…

Story:

Ajay (Sudheer Babu) is an aspiring child book author looking for his first book contract. His father Naresh is a movie enthusiast and wannabe actor. Naresh rents his house for a film shoot in which Sameera Rathod (Aditi Rao Hydari) is heroine. Ajay is appointed as Telugu tutor for the actress since she doesn’t know the language. Meanwhile, Ajay starts adoring Ajay who has bad opinion on industry and heroines. He actually changes his mind after meeting Sameera. However, he can’t digest the fact that she rejects his love proposal for a reason. What is it?

Positives:

1. Plot
2. Lead Actor’s Performance
3. Music
4. Cinematography

Negatives:

1. Slow Narration
2. Second Half

Analysis:

Normal audiences have bad opinion on film industry, especially on heroines. Director Indraganti Mohana Krishna convincingly depicted troubled being faced by film heroines. Sammohanam is all about love story between a popular female star and a normal guy. While Sudheer Babu played the role of a cartoon artist who wishes to inspire kids with his story-telling through his drawings, Aditi Rao Hydari is a film actress who has great self-respect. The film shoot episodes are fresh and entertaining. The romantic track between the lead pair too is adorable. One particular scene in first half where Sudheer Babu impresses Aditi by narrating his grandparents love story was magical. However, movie turns slow in second half, after Aditi Rao rejecting Sudheer Babu’s love proposal. Moreover, flashback narrated by Hari Teja to Sudheer Babu was also boring. Naresh, Sudheer Babu and batch warning Aditi Rao’s ex-boyfriend was funny. Except for that, there are not much magical moments in second half.

Artists Performances:

Sudheer Babu matured as an actor. He gave wonderful performance and indeed lived in the character. He makes us emotional in few important scenes. His look was also cool. Aditi Rao Hydari scores good marks for her tremendous show. She rightly played her role as a film actress. Naresh provided laughs and Rahul Ramakrishna was also funny here and there. Nandu was decent and Hari Teja was okay. Other artists played their parts efficiently.

Technical Aspect:

Sammohanam is the complete effort of technical team. Indraganti Mohana Krishna who gave his best when it comes to writing first part should have taken same care in writing second half as well. He showed his experience in dealing crucial sequences. Cinematography by PG Vinda was colorful, wherein Vivek Sagar provided wonderful tunes besides giving fascinating background score. Editor should have chopped few unnecessary scenes in second half. Production values of Sridevi Movies are high in standard.

Verdict:

Sammohanam is definitely a worth-watching film with good emotions and drama. Romance between the lead pair is selling point. The film has good chances to do well in urban areas.
